Incest perpetrators are not the strangers we warn our children about. They are our own. Silence and shame keep them hidden. Denial ensures that they continue to abuse unchecked. To prevent incestuous sexual abuse we must hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. We need to confront them, not only as people who betrayed us, but as people who will remain in our circles of friends and families and abuse again unless they and we find a way to break their cycle of abuse.
Generation Five
-- Staci Haines, Executive Director and Sara Kershnar, National OrganizerThrough survivor leadership, community organizing, and public action, Generation Five works to interrupt and mend the intergenerational impact of child sexual abuse on individuals, families and communities. Enemy On The Inside is an essential tool with which to educate diverse communities. This project allows people to truly see and hear from incest perpetrators, and learn about the signs of offending and the process of 'grooming' children into silence about their experiences ... It explores various approaches to offender accountability, giving people real options for action. Because of her standing, Grace Poore's voice will be heard by many who are yet too unsettled to address the difficult fact of child sexual offenders.
